Two stories written for [personal profile] spook_me. (I wrote two because the first story I wrote, which is the second one posted here, wasn't very spooky or scary.)

Title: Prisoners
Fandom: Earth 2

Words: 700
Summary: On the surface of G889, a group of prisoners hopes for rescue from the alien who has captured them. Written for [personal profile] spook_me and the creature prompt "alien".

A jolt of pain jerked me back to wakefulness. )

I recently spent a couple of weeks on holiday staying with [personal profile] scribblesinink in the Netherlands. She was a fabulous host and I had a wonderful trip. The weather wasn't terribly good on some days, but it was absolutely fantastic for most of the time (especially considering this was the last week of September and first week in October). I even had to ask Scribbler to break out the sun block on one day (I burn stupidly easily), as I hadn't thought it worth packing anyway.

On the days that weren't so great, we spent time some plotting what I hope will be my next novel-length fic, using Scribbler's Whiteboard-of-Doom (TM). This was entirely self-interested on Scribbler's part, as she came up with the plotbunny, and the eventual story is likely to include lots of element that she'll find id-pleasing. :-)

Under the cuts are some more details and pictures from the very many nice places we visited.

Zwolle )

Stadspark )

Buitenpost )

More parts and pictures will follow when I've had a chance to sort through the photos and write something about them!

The Troublesfest archive is open, and I got a lovely Duke/Audrey story set right at the end of S3. It has some great characterisation of Duke and Audrey, and some very nice cameos by Howard and Jordan.

A Light Through an Open Door (2,233 words) by Anonymous
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Haven
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Duke Crocker/Audrey Parker
Characters: Audrey Parker, Duke Crocker, Byron Howard, Jordan McKee
Summary: What happens in the Barn doesn't stay in the Barn. A very end-of-s3 AU.

I also participated in the just-finished Challenge Week at [community profile] fic_promptly, which was a lot of fun, and got some very pretty badges:

The Challenger - An icon of a brown bunny inside a light blue, circular border. The Side-Quester - An icon of a signpost at a crossroad inside a pale green, circular border. The Long Haul - An icon of a country road leading into the sunset and surrounded by a pale orange, circular border. The Completionist - An icon of a trophy with a golden bunny on it, inside a pale gold, circular border. The Team Player - An icon of a honeybee among blue flowers, surrounded by a gradient yellow and golden brown, circular border.

Now to post all those ficlets to AO3 and my fic journals as well!

The world had gone to hell after the Pulse hit. To be honest, the world had been going to hell—or Hell had been coming to the world—well before that. But after the Pulse, even normal life turned hellish. )

I added 69730 words in the second half of 2013 to the 23,460 I wrote in the first half, making a grand total of 93,190. This fell a little short of my [community profile] inkingitout target of 100,000 words posted for the year, but as 2013 continued to be full of a lot of Not Fun Real Life (to the point I had writer's block for over 10 weeks in the middle of the year and didn't write a word of fic), I'm pleased with the eventual outcome.

To make up for not writing in any new fandoms in the first half of the year, I added four new fandoms in the last six months: Watership Down (Richard Adams), Earth 2, Power of Three (Diana Wynne Jones) and Haven. While I'm not delirious about where canon has gone recently in Haven, I am very grateful to the show and its characters (especially Duke *g*) for inspiring me enough to break my writer's block (and then some – regularly topping 3000 words a week now!) and for starting me on a streak of writing something every day that's now lasted nearly 5 months.

I wrote stories for the Haven Troublesfest exchange, [community profile] fic_corner, [personal profile] spook_me, [community profile] intoabar and [livejournal.com profile] journeystory, as well as 5 treats for Yuletide. I also wrote for several prompts left at [community profile] fic_promptly whenever I needed a plotbunny to keep my writing streak going.

And, as mentioned, I took part in [community profile] inkingitout, which really helped when I was struggling. I've signed up for 2014 with a slightly tougher goal of getting 125,000 words posted. As part of that, I'm hoping to finish and post my first novel-length story (currently around 12,000 words written.)

On to the stories:

Earth 2 – 1 story – 1195 words )

Haven – 20 stories – 34760 words )

Jericho – 3 stories and 2 drabbles – 4670 words )

Power of Three – 1 story – 1255 words )

Sons of Anarchy – 3 stories - 22020 words )

Watership Down – 2 stories – 4595 words )

Crossovers – 1 story – 1235 words )

Links go to Dreamwidth but most of my stories are also available at [archiveofourown.org profile] tanaqui.

Many thanks to [personal profile] scribblesinink for cheerleading and betaing everything.
