It was a lot of fun to take a character who was barely developed on the show (and I think the problems a lot of people have with her are to do with how underdeveloped she is in canon) and make her into a rounded character.
And it was also fun to twist around people's expectations when I started writing this that John would be the one getting the counseling. *g* I couldn't help thinking about how lonely her position was, and how that was something she and John had in common.
