Gacked from [livejournal.com profile] erinrua - a semi-Christmas get-acquainted, who-are-you Meme!

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. I read your journals, and you update regularly and in detail. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes black licorice and fluffy dogs--but not in combination."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who comment all the time. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

(PS People who are on both my flists don't need to answer this twice unless they want to. *g*)

Happy seasonal greetings of your choice.

A follow up to yesterday's First of all things the stars of heaven. Faramir thinks back to an earlier midwinter celebration....

Day 250

as part of the Heavens' Embroidered Cloths series.

Out of darkness

Faramir remembered that last mettarë. The slightly rough feel of his father's cheek and the rumble of his voice in his chest as, each evening of the twelve days of feasting, Denethor carried his son around the Great Room to teach him the constellations and, one by one, tell him the story of each.

One evening, his father was late. When he begged for a story, his mother walked him slowly around the room she had decorated with glittering imitations of Elbereth's lights.

Then, crouched beside him, her dark hair sweet scented, she shared the tale of the Great Swan.
