Daily drabble challenge - Day 30 - Love less than before

So here is the final drabble of the month. Thank you to everyone for the prompts and the feedback (which I must respond to *g*)! I enjoyed doing this and may have another drabble month again later in the year....

Day 30: [livejournal.com profile] rakshathedemon wanted anything about Huan.

Love less than before

Loyalty was in his nature, for he was a hound of Valinor. And the Great Hunter had said: Here is your new master. Follow him now.

Loyalty to old master and to new made him follow even when the chase led across the Sundering Seas and into Doom.

Yet loyalty must be earned, and faithfulness may be shattered.

Still he came when called, found scent when bid, held station when ordered. But betweentimes, he no longer leaned against his master's knee to let his ears be fondled. His keen nose could not ignore the lingering stink of deception and cruelty.

Oh, wonderful. Excellent title, and description of Huan's progression of loyalty. Loved Yet loyalty must be earned, and faithfulness may be shattered. and His keen nose could not ignore the lingering stink of deception and cruelty.

Lovely tone, too, very reminiscent of the Silm's high style but extremely evocative and readable.

*claps and cheers* Here's to a another fantastic drabble challenge completed! Tho' like Gwynnyd, I'll miss this daily treat...

How sad! No wonder he at last followed others, offered protection to those his last master would have destroyed for the sake of a bauble....

Love the series!
