Scintillating

"...way light bends, so if the atmosphere the light's traveled through to reach you is slightly different, you get a slightly different image. And the atmosphere isn't uniform, and it's constantly moving as well, which means the composition of the atmosphere between you and the star is always changing. So the image you see is always changing, which is why...." Chuck's voice trailed off as he caught Kate's amused smile. "...stars twinkle. You just wanted to look at them, didn't you?"

"Not just at them." Kate stepped closer, her smile turning mischievous. "I like a man who knows his stuff...."

Yeah, not one I would have expected either, partly because I get the impresson the technicians don't mix much with the scientists. But that was the prompt - glad you felt the result worked out well.
