Day 85: Willing Sacrifice
So, I couldn't quite resist the entreaties to add to my Building The Future series....
as part of the Building The Future series
Day 85
Willing Sacrifice
Bard, fidgeting with the gold-encrusted collar of his tunic, felt as trussed up as the suckling pig that would form the centrepiece the day's feast. Oh, for the simplicity of life back in Laketown!
The dragon might have been a constant threat, but at least the danger was plain. Unlike the unceasing machinations of the diplomats from far-flung kingdoms who attended him on this special day.
A fanfare broke his musings and brought a broad smile to his grim face. Here, with sweet-scented flowers twined in her hair, came one who understood his burden, and had consented to share it.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-11 12:53 am (UTC)(link)I note that he, Aragorn and Faramir are cut from the same cloth (pun intended) when it comes to appreciation for fashion. Nice reflection on the pains of kinghood, followed by that truly lovely reaction to his intended. Awwww!
Uh, assuming you want more... I'd love to see her side of the story at some point, their first pregnancy/child (since that's what prompted this whole search on his part), a meeting with Aragorn/Arwen (or would diplomacy be all messengers exchanged?)...

And yeah, I do seem to have a bit of an obsession over how much our favourite Men hate getting dressed up. I guess I just seem them having got very used to wearing extremely serviceable and comfortable clothes. Clean is nice. Heavy, scratchy embroidery - not so much.
Hmmm, and I guess there might be more....
