Kate Heightmeyer Drabble-a-thon: Day 20

prompt: Kate & Teyla, chocolate eggs

Hidden Treasure

"It is very pretty," Teyla held up the elaborately-fashioned box and turned it around, "but what is it?"

"It's an Easter egg."

"Easter?"

"It's this holiday we have. Kinda like Christmas, except it commemorates Jesus's resurrection rather than his birth."

"Resurrection?" Teyla was still examining the package. "This Jesus had an eventful life."

Kate smiled. "That he did. The egg's really more of an ancient symbol of spring and rebirth rather than anything to do with Jesus." She coughed gently. "Uh... there's chocolate inside the foil."

"Why did you not say so before?" Teyla eagerly began to unwrap the package.

Kate Heightmeyer Drabble-a-thon: Day 21

prompt: Kate/John, darkness

Fused

Kate always felt she should've thanked Rodney, except it would have been embarrassing to explain just how grateful she was he'd blown the power out right when she and Colonel Sheppard were discussing crew evaluations.

He'd stopped by her office a few times. More than a few. She was no expert on body language, but a lot was being said without words. Yet somehow they couldn't quite shift the actual conversation off the professional.

Until the lights went out, and they blundered towards each other in the sudden darkness, and John's lips told hers what she'd been aching to know.

Kate Heightmeyer Drabble-a-thon: Day 22

prompt: Kate/Elizabeth, Ascension

A Higher Plane of Existence

"Would you want to?" The late afternoon sun striping the room was making Elizabeth sleepy.

"Ascend?" Kate lifted her head and met Elizabeth's inquiring gaze

"Yes."

Kate considered the question, a faint frown creasing her forehead. "Does it mean leaving behind the flesh."

"That's the idea."

Kate's lips twitched. "In that case...," she traced a fingertip lightly down Elizabeth's arm, "I don't think I'm ready for it just yet."

Elizabeth slid her hand around the back of Kate's neck, gently tangling her fingers in the other woman's hair, and drew her closer. "Me neither," she murmured, her lips against Kate's.
