Day 319: Disgust

The companion drabble to yesterday's Disdain, from the other POV.
Day 319
Disgust
Perhaps the whispered tales are true: they do indeed clasp hands in friendship and forgiveness with slayers of their kin, and hold feast with them. For how else could they think we would give comfort and passage to murderers?
Have they grown indifferent, behind the mazed fence that guards their land, to the pains of the world? Do they – immortal, unchanging – know so little of loss that they make light of ours?
If they wish to deny us this land – the forests in which they do not dwell, the fields they do not farm – let them come take it back!
