I have written stories in the following fandoms: Few Options, The Kill Point, Supernatural, Stargate: Atlantis, Sons of Anarchy, Eagle of the Ninth and other works by Rosemary Sutcliff, Haven, Firefly, Tolkien, Dark Angel, Miracles, The Magic of Ordinary Days, Jericho and Watership Down.

I generally add tags only for characters who play a significant role in a story, and not for characters who only make a cameo appearance and don't contribute significantly to advancing the plot. Where there are a large number of charcters who each have small but fairly critical roles in advancing the plot, I use the ensemble cast/secondary characters tag.

While everything I post is "read at own risk", I do aim to warn for the major categories of physical violence, sexual violence and major character death, and indicate that no warnings are necessary if none of these apply. (This is broadly in line with AO3's system of warnings; I'd also warn for underage, but I don't think I've ever written any.) Sometimes I forget to include warnings, so please let me know if you think a warning should be included. Ratings are based on typical British values for what is appropriate for each age; this means I'm more likely to rate high for violence than for sexual content or language.

scribblesinink challenged me to rewatch Supernatural from the beginning while we wait for Season 4 to come around, and to write at least one drabble inspired by each episode. (Because where would I be without a crazy drabble project? *rolls eyes*)

So here are the drabbles for the first three episodes. For some reason, they all turned out so far to be John-centric. *g*

Author’s Notes: This is all scribblesinink’s fault for making a chance remark that got me wondering how Dean would react if you tickled him.

Also, two warnings for readers of my smut in other fandoms: this is pure PWP – absolutely minimum set up and no greater point; and it feels to me like it’s a lot less subtle than my usual smut because, well, Dean is a lot less subtle than either Faramir or John Sheppard. But it was a very interesting exercise in writing character-appropriate smut.

( Dean tried to ignore the sound of the shower running in the bathroom as he flicked through the TV channels, checking breaking news reports. )

So scribblesinink pointed me towards the preview of the next Supernatural tie-in novel Bone Key written by Keith DeCandido, and issued a general challenge for people to remix it.

How could I resist producing a 100-word drabble that covered everything that was in the original - without the additional 2700 words of turgidly paced filler?

Bone Key – the drabble remix

"Yaphet?" Sam glanced at Bobby.

"Nut job." Bobby sipped the champagne they were using to toast New Year.

"Really? Sure, we'll check it out." Dean snapped their father's old phone closed. "Let's go, Sam!"

"You takin' that hippie burnout seriously?" Bobby stared incredulously.

Dean shrugged. "Bunch of hauntings, plus some girl got her throat slit and there was sulfur...."

Unexpectedly, Sam backed his brother. "If it’s a real job, we should go. If it isn’t, Dean gets to cut loose in Key West."

The thought that Dean had maybe less than a year to live hung unspoken in the air.

So, mooncross recently corrupted me into watching Supernatural (see lovely new LJ icon courtesy of the talented ileliberte) because she wanted to fling plotbunnies at me have someone to discuss the show with. But I often get confused because there's a Sam in all three fandoms I'm messing in - Tolkien (Sam Gamgee), Stargate (Sam Carter) and Supernatural (Sam Winchester).

(Not to mention that mooncross is owned by Sam-the-cat. We once had a conversation where mooncross referred to the cat and I was trying to work out what fandom she was talking about.... *facepalm*)

Anyway, all that is a long winded way to introduce a drabble written in response to mooncross's challenge to write a Sam-Sam-Sam crossover.

Crossing Over

"Look, not that we don't appreciate the help, but we can handle it from here."

"Excuse me, ma'am, but whatever freaky aliens you've met, we've more experience of the kind of hellspawn you find here on ear–"

Sam Winchester fell silent as Colonel Carter raised her hand, then gestured for him to circle round.

A rustle in the grass. Sam pounced, scuffled, and finally hauled the small creature upright by its collar. "What the–?" He exchanged puzzled glances with Carter.

"See here!" The dwarf – no, Hobbit: the word arrived unexpectedly in Sam's head – bristled angrily. "Can't a tired traveller rest?"
