Awww *blush* Thank you for the kind words. I will freely admit that I think I learned all I know about writing action/adventure from betaing stories for [livejournal.com profile] sgafan in the Stargate: Atlantis fandom, because she writes the most amazing action/adventure, and I was shamelessly ripping off her approach here. (Had to keep remembering Faramir didn't have a semi-automatic and wasn't going to be looking across and seeing the rest of the SGA cast.... *g*)

the lack of magical ever-full quivers.

Oh yes... pet peeve. It was much more fun having them run low/run out of arrows before they'd seen off the orcs and having them improvise. I really enjoyed successfully working out the details of the running battle, even if there were times when I felt as stuck and pinned down as Faramir!

What were the specifics of the challenge?

It was pretty simple - to come up with "fiction, art, vid, or fan artifact based on one of the titles from The Twilight Zone". The mod at the community posted a long list of episode titles/summaries and we could pick whatever we wanted. As soon as I saw the title "The Hunt" on there, I knew it would make a good Tolkien fic and signed up, although the specifics of the story didn't come until later....
