Day 27: Today's drabble was prompted by
scribblesinink and I fighting mysterious and entirely randomly occurring issues—sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't!—with her Wordpress-based fiction archive, in order to let me post a new story.
Machines More Complicated
Sam glared at the seed drill. Everything seemed to be in working order. The flap covering the hopper outlet moved when he pushed it, letting out the seeds inside. Tipping the drill up, he squinted along the tubes down which the seeds would fall and saw they were clear of obstructions. The ratchet that opened the flap caught and pushed it down as Sam rotated the wheels by hand.
And yet, when he turned the dratted thing the right way up and pushed it across the soil, nothing came out. Sighing heavily, he once again began to check everything over....
