Day 231: A Special Place
Dec. 3rd, 2007 11:06 pmA follow up to Holy War.
elena_tiriel wondered what places in Gondor were considered sacred by the Easterlings in that drabble.
Day 231
A Special Place
Pushing inland from Pelargir to log and mine and trap, the Sea-lords dealt with such resistance as they found amongst the scattered homesteads of the natives.
Later, when expeditions became more frequent, the clashes were more violent. Armed parties were sent to clear vast tracts. Soon, the Dúnedain found only abandoned settlements.
By the time proud Númenor was lost, it was a land without people for a people without a land.
Traces of the old ones' presence lingered: mysterious earthworks on the hill thrust out from Mindolluin.
The builders of Gondor swept them away to raise their fine new city.
