gwynnyd has just helped her elder daughter moved into a new apartment, so she asked me for someone setting up a household. Merry & Pippin at Crickhollow? Rosie moving into Bag End? Eowyn choosing staff for the Ithilien house?

House Keeper

Mr Frodo had so many nice things for Rosie to admire while she dusted and polished and waxed and scoured. Not that home back in South Lane had been bare of comforts, but the furnishings had been plain and serviceable.

In Bag End, tables with fine-grained leaves of walnut reflected dragon-encrusted silver candlesticks. Light glittered off shapely crystal and shone through bone china edged with gold. Oak floorboards were muffled with silken-tassled rugs.

Taking a deep breath, Rosie reminded herself she need be in no more awe of these things than before Sam had told her they were now theirs.
