Feb. 2nd, 2008 09:17 pmSo, having been inspired by the theme in the new Supernatural ep yesterday, I was inspired by the theme in the new Stargate Atlantis ep today, which was to do with fathers and sons....

He had tried to please, but there was no pleasing some people.
His talents would be acknowledged with a few brief words of praise, and dismissed as quickly. His labours noted but – no matter how he strove to surpass what was demanded – never seen as more than what Gondor was owed. His victories brought no triumph.
He was diligent, shrewd, bold at need without recklessness, scrupulously fair, capable of leading on the battlefield and in the council-chamber: admirable qualities all.
And yet he would always be held second in his father’s esteem to that silver-tongued Northerner with his easy charm.
