Day 356: Charge!

Oops, I missed posting yesterday because I was a) uninspired and b) then so tired I fell asleep.

Anyway, many thanks to elena_tiriel for the inspiration for this drabble set on the Pelennor. (Hmm, now on to today's drabble....)

Charge!

As the sun rose over the reek of battle, he put his horn to his lips and blew a loud blast. It rolled out over the massed hosts, lifting the hearts of his comrades, and setting his enemies trembling. Underneath him, his mount responded to his urging.

Along the line, other horns joined their notes to his, rising above the thundering of the earth, the clash of harness, the shouts of brave warriors.

Handling the reins skilfully, he steered amongst the press of foes, bringing chaos and trampling destruction, while his steed added its own trumpetings to the joyous din.

Day 357: Quackery

And today's drabble. This was also prompted by a suggestion from elena_tiriel regarding the snarkiness in the discussion of athelas in the Houses of Healing, together with my own thoughts about the way athelas is often (ab)used in fanfic.

Faramir handed over a crudely block-printed sheet. "This was being distributed around the market in Emyn Arnen, sire."

Aragorn glanced at it, and then took a second look. His frown deepened as he read on through the mass of fancy lettering.
