Second Nature

I never thought I was blessed – or cursed – with the foresight of my people. Yet sometimes we see the future laid so clearly before us it is almost like memory.

My love, my creed – my very nature! – wills me walk through the dark door at his side, even though I know by doing so I will not live to see the light beyond.

'Tis the destiny of some to achieve greatness and renown, to shape the world and all in it to their purposes. And others are born to carry their standards, deliver their victories, fall away in silent uncomplaint.
