Day 14: it seems yesterday's prompt from
rakshathedemon wasn't done with me, so here again is Something about the Corsairs of Umbar, either Ring War era or earlier, their viewpoint.

Nominated for the MEFAs as part of the The Insolence of the Corsairs series.
A threat to the fiefs of the South
After a few battered ships limped at last into the landlocked haven, there was no more appetite for war with the North. What need, when fortunes lay southward, and Castamir's line—still nursing old enmities—had perished.
The Lords of Umbar were careful, of course, not to deny the emissaries of Mordor outright. But no treaties were signed, no aid given except in well-struck trade. For two hundred years, Umbar turned its back on the Old Enemy.
***
The Lord of Umbar surveyed the devastation. Cold anger on his features, he beckoned his lieutenant forward. "A message to Mordor: Umbar will answer!"
