When [livejournal.com profile] scribblesinink pointed out that, in The Shrine, Shep was sleeping in a T-shirt with a panda on it, we discussed how it somehow didn't seem a very Shep-like garment to either of us. Which prompted a plotbunny about where he got it and why he wears it.

It's the thought that counts

Two big eyes stared up at him. He stared back, a little weirded out. Clearly they were meant to be appealing. Clearly they'd appealed to someone. Who'd thought they'd appeal to John.

Of course, Ellie was seven years old and probably didn't realise quite yet that just because she liked something didn't mean Uncle John would like it just as much.

He smiled up at his niece. "I'll wear it every week," he promised.

After all, he had to sleep in something.
