Kate Heightmeyer Drabble-a-thon: Day 2
Feb. 3rd, 2009 04:55 pmPrompt: Kate & John: 'Usually I'm the one asking the questions.'
Facing Demons
"How are you holding up?" John lightly touched Kate's shoulder.
She shrugged his hand off and took a couple of steps away. "I'm fine." What good would it do to tell him the truth? She wasn't sleeping properly; her days were measured in the minutes between sessions; it took all the meditation techniques Teyla had taught her to remain calm during them.
He moved closer again and gently turned her to face him. "You're a really bad liar sometimes, you know that?" He gave her a wry smile. "I know it's hard, but we couldn't turn Mikey human without you."
