[livejournal.com profile] makamu asked for something about the first time the brothers come to Dol Amroth after their mother's death.

Day 21

as part of the Wild Swan series.

The Swan's Nest

Imrahil came in from the drill-field to find the courtyard in an uproar of carts and chests and shouting servants. In the centre of the melée stood his nephews, uncertain.

Boromir had grown inches the last two years, almost as tall now as the plump nursemaid fussing over them. His arm was wrapped around his brother's shoulder; Faramir had lost his baby chubbiness but looked chalky, overtired.

Imrahil greeted them. Boromir bowed, but Faramir's lip trembled; he tried to hide behind his brother. Imrahil held out his hand. "Come, see your new cousin – and whether you aunt has any sweetmeats."

Lovely but also chilling. The sense of loneliness and abandonement permeating this made me all teary for the two of them. And I hope that their aunt and cousin are seetmeat enough, lives to weigh against death, if need be...

Aww... that was sweet and sad.

*feels for brothers 'Mir*

Is it very bad of me, that overlaid with your imagery I also imagined two very different brothers in a similar big brother/little brother situation? There must be something you can do with the similarities... *hopes for LotR/SPN crossover drabble*

You really are trying to convert me to SPN, aren't you?

Who? Me? *whistles*

Think I may have to actually watch a few eps before I can manage this

Well, Amazon notified me they have sent out my order for the Season 1 disks. And this is only drabble 21. I'd say you should be able to manage that before the 365 days are over. *grins*

Oh, the picture of the two boys is beautifully and sadly drawn here. And I just know that they'll have a good time in Dol Amroth, the poor kids.

Nicely done.
