Seem to have a bee in my bonnet about Gilraen at the moment. *g* gwynnyd asked for Arwen and Gilraen talking about Aragorn, before and after betrothal. This is "before".

Day 206

Woman to Woman

"Forgive me for speaking of it," Arwen dipped her head in apology, "but when your husband fostered here as a youth, he too declared undying love for me." She smiled. "Yet I believe he outgrew the infatuation."

"And you think Estel will do the same?" Gilraen noted how the passing years had left no mark upon the daughter of Elrond since last they met.

"When he has spent time with your people, I am sure he will find a fine wife – as Arathorn did."

Gilraen sighed. "Alas, I fear my son is far more stubborn than ever my husband was...."

Gilraen does know Aragorn well. And that's a bit like father like son, when it comes to falling in love with Arwen. It is a bit creepy to think about though - I'm sure if someone had just told Aragorn that his father had loved the same woman he might have thought twice about it!

Sure, it's a little creepy - but I can't believe Arwen wasn't the target of teenage crushes on the part of several other Heirs fostered in Rivendell - if not all of them!

And yes, I should imagine Gilraen was well aware of Aragorn's stubborn nature! *g*

I love the thought of Aragorn's line all having these crushes on Arwen! And Gilraen's foresighted hint at the end, and her noticing the agelessness of Arwen re: your previous drabble... Very nice ties, all.
