Day 301

Indisposed
Boromir surveyed the charred remains of the fishing village, before turning back to Imrahil. "Think you I do not grieve to see this, Uncle? But we lack sufficient men to defend the coastline if our ships no longer keep the Corsairs at sea. We are hard pressed along the River, and I fear our lines will be breached if I send troops."
Imrahil nodded. "I understand. I ask only for the return of the levies from Belfalas. I thought to station mounted companies in certain places, and build beacons, that at least we might disturb the raiders from their plunder...."

Date: 2008-02-11 08:59 pm (UTC)Oh, excellent! *g*
This is well done, with familiarity still between them but also deep mutual respect. And Denethor's response to the request was...?
P.S. I can't believe you only have two more months to go!

And Denethor's response to the request was...?
Probably a lot of annoyance - you know he is about "holding the outer defences"! But maybe not much he can do about it if the disposition of the troops is at Boromir's discretion.
P.S. I can't believe you only have two more months to go!
Me neither - I'm kinda looking forward to the end and not having the pressure of producing every day, but also know I'll be a bit sad and lost when it's over.

Date: 2008-02-11 10:05 pm (UTC)And in my scatterbrained state, this made sooo much more sense after you reminded me that flood dikes are spelled "levees" not "levies".... sorry, having an "it does not compute" day, where "it" encompasses pretty much everything....
Anyway, now that I make sense of it, it's well done! Imrahil is very practical and strategic... and Boromir is very military.... actually, they both are *thinks about Prince of Dol Amroth uniform from your previous drabble, and gets unfocused for a while* *ok, make that *more* unfocused....*
Well done, Liz!

Date: 2008-02-17 03:00 pm (UTC)Anyway, glad you liked it once we got it straightened out, and that you thought it convincingly military and Imrahil was suitably dreamy.... *g*
