Day 306: Beyond The Sea

I've had several requests for a continuation of my Celeborn and Galadriel sequence. And I've had this song bouncing around my head all day (arghhhh!). So....

Day 306

as part of the Celevron a Mallen series.

Beyond The Sea

He does not yearn to see the crystal stairs of Tirion, gleaming with diamond-dust, nor hear the sweet music of Valmar’s bells, nor see its never-fading lawns of green where Nessa dances.

That far country has never been his. His realm is of starlight and shadowed woods.

And yet he learned to love the morning.

His heart bleeds for the brilliance of golden tresses that once snared the light of the Trees. For the melody of a voice deepened by grief and lightened by love. For his wife’s ever-enduring beauty.

One day his grandsons will sail, and he with them.

Oh, Liz, this is hauntingly beautiful! It gave me goose bumps!

I tried to pick out lines that I particularly like.... but couldn't favor one over the others.... except this hopeful note: One day his grandsons will sail, and he with them.

Ahhh... just wonderful, wonderful. I love how you incorporated his indifference to Aman, that the reason he would finally sail was to be reunited with his beloved wife, and that you hearkened back to the themes of the drabble describing Celeborn's first sighting of his love.

My favorite line: For the melody of a voice deepened by grief and lightened by love.

What a great way to (hopefully) expunge that song from your head! Any chance we'll see more in this series? Their parting? Their reunion? Other events? *hopeful look*

Thank you! I do enjoy building on/alluding to what I've written in previous drabbles - they're a good way to work out little snippets about character I haven't thought about much previously without having to plunge in with the kind of clearer overall idea you need for a longer fic.

Hmm, and more of the series...? Maybe.... *g*

Hadn't really written/thought about Celeborn much before I started doing this year of drabbles, but I've got rather fond of him!
