Times change, and we change with them
Celeborn remembered him of old. One of the proud Noldorin lords who came to Doriath with importunate demands from their yet-prouder princes. Proud? Some might say arrogant! At least they had been rid of Turgon's train of courtiers while Fingolfin's son cowered in his hidden city for three hundred years.
Now here he was once more. The intervening years—Celeborn glanced at his wife, rising at his side—had taught Celeborn to scorn the Exiles somewhat less. Looking into the eyes of Gil-Galad's golden-haired emissary, Celeborn saw death and time had perhaps taught his guest more humility and wisdom also.

*possessively glomps onto gorgeous elf-lords* MINE!

P.S. I can't vouch for the wisdom part, but yes, time certainly does bring more humility... whether welcome or not.....

Date: 2009-06-06 07:14 pm (UTC)Thanks! I was thinking about writing about one or the other, and then got to wondering about their shared history.
Mind if I nominate this for a MeFA?
Not at all - I'd be thrilled if you nominated it! Thank you. *g*

I don't suppose you feel inspired to continue this with a conversation between the two along this same theme? Sorry to not be satisfied with a single drabble, but I still suffer occasional withdrawals from your fic-a-day marathon...

It does have potential, doesn't it? Both of them must have changed somewhat over the years....

Hee! That has to be one of the nicest "plz rite moar" requests I've ever had. *g* Not sure if the muses will cooperate - they're a bit distracted with other things. I was somewhat surprised I produced this and the other drabble within a few days of each other!
I'll talk nicely to them....

Date: 2009-09-06 07:04 pm (UTC)If I ever manage to round up my mostly-missing Tolkien and/or drabble muses again *sigh* I definitely think more in this series is worth exploring. The divisions in culture and politics between the Noldor and the Sindar is one of the bits of Elven history that I find endlessly fascinating!
