This is, I suppose, a look at how memory becomes myth and myth gets distorted. It's based on the SGA episode Before I Sleep, in which we learn about how the Ancients left Atlantis. It may also help to remind yourself of the Rhyme of the Seven Stars and Seven Stones from Lord of the Rings, and to know that the Stargate Universe includes long-range communication devices that were probably created by the Ancients.
Anyway... Day 20

Endings and Beginnings
The ninth and last evacuation group emerged from the Stargate into cool, scented night. Moros felt the weight of the two communications stones tucked carefully in his bag. The other five had been sent ahead: three with the first group, headed to the northern continent; two with the second, staying in the south.
As the light from the event horizon winked out, he looked up at the night sky. Automatically, his eyes sought the seven stars in the Pegasus constellation that marked their lost home.
He turned towards the camp. They would rebuild, renewing their Ancient gene with each generation.

Thanks
Date: 2007-05-06 07:23 pm (UTC)Well, I was struggling to connect the two universes... but as both Tolkien and SGA are supposed to be real past history (and I think the supposed timelines even mesh), it seemed to kinda work....
Who has the White Tree?
I was actually seeing the White Tree as being a physical representation of or metaphor for the Ancient Gene, which according to SGA mythology has lain latent within the Earth population for many thousands of years.... ;-)
