Anniversary

On the anniversary of the crowning of King Elessar, and for three days after, the Steward was at his king's side while Gondor celebrated.

On the fourth day, with the King's leave, Faramir left the White City and crossed the river.

Once across, he rode slowly, seeing crops sprouting gladly in fresh-tilled soil, new thatch gleaming gold on barn and byre, farm-folk waving as he passed.

Aragorn, watching him depart, had almost wished to ride with him, so he might witness the quiet joy and fierce pride on the Prince's face as he toured his Princedom on its first anniversary.
