Denise and [livejournal.com profile] gwynnyd wanted to see more about Imrazór and Mithrellas: this is about why Mithrellas left, or why she stayed at Dol Amroth all.

Day 189

as part of the Lost Love series.

Beware of the Sea

He was a good Man. A kind Man. Too kind, perhaps. He let her ride to the Elven-haven to speak with her own people when she would.

When do you leave, Captain?

She loved him. She loved her children. But she longed for the sea.

The tide is turning. If I am to sail tonight, I must go aboard....

To live so near to the waves, breaking at the base of the rocky promontory on which her home stood, so she could never be free of their whispers, waking or sleeping....

Forgive me! A greater love, a greater need calls....

I like this! Interesting portrait of Mithrellas. Have you ever felt the sea-longing yourself? AFriedman

Me too, sort of. For me the coastline wouldn't be quite so remote. And it would definitely be northern, cold in winter and warm in summer. Both my parents grew up within a short stroll of the other side of the Atlantic, near beaches in New Jersey and New York that were almost within sight of one another. I was born in New England and spent much of my life near the sea. My family pretty much stayed near Ellis Island, New York City, where they were sworn in as Americans. After escaping from persecution, America was America and they didn't feel the need to go much farther in. So here I am, a grown woman who also likes my wilderness with a bit of sea. But I didn't get to see as much of the wilderness part as I would have liked, having lived in cities for most of my life.

The coast of England is beautiful! I went to Britain once, never forgot it. Where are you from now?

Oh, very touching, Liz!

It never occurred to me that she was fighting the sea-longing, while living close to the sea.

No wonder she had to sail!

Well done, Liz!

Excellent take on it - I had also never thought of how living by the sea might be painful for her, even though I knew she was planning to sail when she was found by Imrazor. Nice use of the spoken interjections! Thank you for exploring this subject so well, Tanaqui.
